About Us

Sentinel Computers is a computer service and consulting business that caters, primarily, to individuals and small businesses in the metro-Albuquerque and East Mountain area of New Mexico. The founder and primary tech is John R. Jorgensen. Interested in computers from an early age, he received his first formal training while working at the IBM research facility in Boulder, Colorado in 1988. He has also studied Computer Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder; Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico; he holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a dual-concentration in Information Assurance (computer security), and Management Information Systems; he has been an A+ Certified computer technician since 1996; and has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry.

Sentinel Computers is the third evolution of a business that started in 1991. Originally called, Default Drive, this computer service business was founded by John R. Jorgensen and Frank C. Livingston, and primarily served businesses in the transportation industry. Mr. Livingston left to join Texas Instruments where he works to this day as a Digital Signal Processing Engineering helping to develop the next generation of communication devices. Following Mr. Livingston's departure, the company was reformed by Mr. Jorgensen as Cybertec Computer Solutions in 1995. Along with a new name came a broader focus on not just computer repair, but network and Internet connection services to assist the rapidly growing number of people wanting Internet access. Cybertec performed consulting and network services for companies such as Bill Gordon and Associates, New Mexico Internet Access and Weems Art Gallery, to name just a few.

Now, in 2010, Sentinel Computers has been formed to emphesize our focus on the most pressing computer issues of the new millennia: computer security and privacy.
